What is Domain?
In computing, a domain refers to a group of computers or devices that share a common identity or purpose and are managed as a single entity. It can also refer to a specific area of knowledge or expertise, such as a particular field of study or industry.
In the context of the internet, a domain is a unique name that identifies a website or web service. It consists of two or more parts separated by dots, with the top-level domain (TLD) appearing last (e.g., .com, .org, .net). The domain name is used in URLs to locate a website on the internet.
For example, in the domain name "example.com", "example" is the second-level domain and ".com" is the top-level domain. The domain name system (DNS) translates domain names into IP addresses, which are used to locate and connect to the server hosting the website or service associated with that domain.
